Ámantee is pleased to announce that it will host a Jazz Concert on Saturday, September 18 th 2010 from 7.30 pm onwards , featuring the distinguished Swiss Pianist Mauro Monti with Russian Trumpetist guest Rustem Galiullin and double bass accompanist Pornchart Viriyapark.

This delightful concert will intrigue Jazz music lovers of all persuasions

The proceeds from this concert will be donated to Bangkok Accueil (Previously known as AFB - Accueil Francophone de Bangkok or The Bangkok French Speakers Association ) for if funds in support to detainees in Thai jails. For more information on Bangkok Acceuil please look at www.bangkokaccueil.org

This one-night-only performance will be a not-to-be-missed opportunity for Bangkok music lovers who wish to support a worthy cause..The net price, including concert, dining cocktail and drinks, will be 2,000 THB per person. Click here to see the cocktail menu.

Programme : The repertoire of this concert includes both Mauro Monti original compositions and jazz standards. Songs are arranged by the pianist Mauro Monti especially for this Trio. The listener will be totally dipped in a atmosphere of sounds, rhythms and swing created by refined interplay between the musicians.

The artists:

Mauro Monti - Piano

Mauro Monti, pianist, composer, band leader and music instructor, is graduated of the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music of Lausanne-Switzerland and of the Professional Music Center of Milan-Italy. In addition, he completes a music pedagogy course at the Conservatory of Lausanne. To further his experience, he follows master classes and private lessons in Europe and in the United States with well-known jazz musicians such Kenny Werner, Richie Beirach, Mitchel Forman, Mike Richmond, Ray Anderson, Joe Pass , Enrico Pieranunzi.

Mauro begins his carrier as a piano instructor in Switzerland and as a performer musician across Europe , Middle East and Thailand . In 1996, he records his first CD “The Box Of Memories with the extraordinary collaboration of Furio di Castri on double bass and Roberto Gatto on drums.

Since 2007, he is living and performing in Thailand and he is instructor of piano, jazz arranging and composition at the Mahidol University College of Music of Bangkok and Salaya campus.

Mauro has developed a piano style that is inspired by great jazz masters like Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea ... . In ballads the listener feels poetic lyricism, as well as, an energetic strength and virtuosity in up-tempo pieces. Blending the two results in a refined combination of chord progressions. His style, reflects an ideal balance between musicality and technique, which truly seduces the audience.

In 2008, Mauro published the book “The Basics Of The Piano Didactic” (in italian) which is without doubt an important representation of his career and pedagogic experience. .

 

Rustem Galiullin -  Guest Trumpetist

Rustem was born in 1964 in Ufa – a city right at the heart of what was then The Soviet Union. At the age of seven, he started his piano studies and when he was 12 he preceded with his music career studying trumpet at Ufa State Institute of Arts (USIOA), from   where he graduated in 1982. Rustem also served in the Soviet Russian Army Band from 1983 to 1985. He continued his trumpet studies at USIOA and graduated with Honours with a Master Degree in 1989. In the same year he has joined the National Bashkir Symphony Orchestra as Principal Trumpet , and between 1989 and 1992 also taught at Ufa College of Arts and music schools .

Apart from competing in several music competitions in Russia and earning high ranks and winning many awards, Rustem Galiullin also participated in many national and international music festivals, as a soloist and an arranger of the very well-known jazz –ensemble “ORLAN” , under its leader Oleg Kireyev . Mr Galiullin made recordings of both Jazz and Classical music. He also recorded a bestseller album on LP with the jazz ensemble “ORLAN” named “Bashkirian Legends”.

Rustem was invited to work in Thailand in 1994 as a soloist of the MUSIC TOWN band . He has been working in Bangkok for more than a decade now, at the same time making a lot of recordings of jazz and pop music as a trumpeter, arranger and composer. He has also been teaching in many local music schools and universities, in particular Chulalongkorn University , Yamaha Music School and MIFA International Academy of Music. He has also been play ing in many Jazz Festivals in Asia and played concerts in Bangkok with American Jazz star guitar player Bruce Forman and world famous drummer Bobby Durham. He is also regularly invited to play with Thailand pop starts such as Bird, Koh Saxman, Ford, Tor, “Soul after 6” Band  and others. Rustem has also been playing with top-notch jazz musicians from all over the world (such as John Thomas, Rex Richardson, Ramon Vasquez, Tim Hauff, Steve Cannon ….)

Rustem is a member of ITG, the International Trumpet Guild, and as such has been involved in 2005 in the ITG Conference as a host of jam session and participated as well in the final Festival of Trumpets concert. He also acted as a judge in the final of Jazz Improvisation Competition held by the ITG in Bangkok .

Pornchart Viriyapark- Double bass accompanist

Pornchart Viriyapark is a graduate of Silpikorn University College of Music and is rapidly becoming Bangkok’s first call Double Bassists. He is a member of OMAH Quartet and has performed at the Hua Hin Jazz Festival and the Thailand Jazz Conference.

He also recently joined the Silpikorn Faculty as a part time instructor.
