The artists:
Mauro Monti - Piano
Born April 24, 1965 in Locarno, Switzerland, Mauro Monti discovers jazz music after early music experiences on the Italian and Anglo-American pop scene. In 1990, he decides to attend the Music School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Lausanne, Switzerland where he obtains a Diploma in Jazz Piano. In addition to these studies, Mauro completes a music pedagogy course at The Conservatory of Music in Lausanne and follows courses given by the pianist Franco D'Andrea at The Professional Music Center in Milan, Italy and obtains a Diploma with Honourable Mention. To further his experience, Mauro then follows master classes in the United States with well-known Jazz musicians like Kenny Werner, Richie Beirach and Mitchel Forman . Since 1994 he has taught piano and harmony at The Music Scholl of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Lausanne and in 1999 was "Head of The Piano Department".
In 1996, Mauro records his first CD, " The box of Memories " with the extraordinary participation of Furio di Castri on double bass and Roberto Gato on drums, The CD containing 10 of his original compositions and received excellent reviews from the critic.
Since 2007, Mauro is living and performing in Thailand and he is teaching at The Mahidol University College of Music in Bangkok.
Mauro has developed a piano style that is inspired by great Jazz Masters like Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea ... In ballads the listener feels poetic lyricism, as well as, an energetic strength and virtuosity in up-tempo pieces. Blending the two, results in a refined combination of chord progressions. His style reflects and ideal balance between musicality and technique which truly seduces the audience. As a leader, a sideman or in Jam sessions, Mauro has played with a number of Swiss and international re-known musicians such: Furio Di Castri, Roberto Gatto, Flavio Boltro, Jeff Richman, Michel Benita, Mike Richmond, Adam Nussbaum Bruce Forman, Brian Bromberg and has performed in Europe, The Middle East, North America and Asia.
