Jazz night at Ámantee on January 20th 2007

Jazz Piano and Vibraphone solo concert and dining cocktail

by Jean Vanasse, co-founder of The OFF Montreal Jazz festival

Ámantee is pleased to announce that, by popular request, it will host a second special charity jazz concert on Saturday, January 20th 2007, at 7.30 pm , featuring the distinguished French-Canadian composer and vibraphonist, Jean Vanasse playing piano and vibraphone.

This concert is part of Jean Vanasse trio Asian tour 2006. The tour started in Shanghai and the band will perform in another 9 cities in China as well as Singapore, totalling 27 concerts.

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Enfants du Mekong association to support the creation of an Infant-school and day-care centre in the Din Daeng's shantytown, in the suburb of Bangkok. For further information regarding 'Enfants du Mekong' projects, please click here.

An accomplished composer of film scores and an international jazz musician, Jean Vanasse has been favourably likened to Gary Burton. Mr Vanasse is perhaps best known for his four-year collaboration during the late 1980's with the Czech bass player Miroslav Vitous, his performances with the Jean Vanasse Sextet and as co-founder of the Montreal Jazz OFF festival.

Jean Vanasse has participated in many international festivals, performed concerts in Europe, Asia and North America, and recorded several jazz programmes for the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) such as at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto for the twentieth anniversary of the CBC Jazz programme ‘Jazz Beat'.

A CD on the Effendi Records label, ‘Mosaïques', recorded in 2001, was nominated for best Jazz Album of the year at L'ADISQ and Opus Price in 2002. ‘Amérikois', recorded in 2004, also received wide critical acclaim.

This one-night-only performance will be a not-to-be-missed opportunity for Bangkok jazz lovers who wish to support a worthy cause. The price, including dining cocktail and drinks, will be 2,000 THB per person. Click here to see the coktail menu.

The audience will be restricted to 80 persons. Bookings will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Reservations may be secured by e-mail ( info@amantee.com ) or telephone (02-982-8695).
